Doing the research is not enough,........The publication is equally Important.1

Publication ethics are rules of conduct generally agreed upon when publishing results of scientific research or other scholarly work.

So, in other words, Publication ethics bind the researcher at every stage of the Research Process.

Generally, it is a standard that actually protects intellectual property and forbids the re-publication of another's work without proper credit.

Academic research involves many coordinated steps and processes –

  • appropriate study design,
  • study execution,
  • data collection,
  • data analysis, and
  • finally publication
So, while doing research work, one needs to follow some research ethics which continues to be followed till the publication of the particular research work.

The publication ethics have great importance as:
  • It promotes the aim and objective of the research work which includes knowledge, truthful observations and results, and avoidance of error.
  • Prohibitions against fabrication, falsifying or misrepresenting research data will promote the authentic work in research and minimize error.

  •  help to ensure that researchers can be held accountable to the public.
  • ethical norms in research also help to build public support for research. People are more likely to fund a research project if they can trust the quality and integrity of the research.
  • norms of research promote a variety of other important moral and social values, such as social responsibility, human rights, animal welfare, compliance with the law, and public health and safety.
